Mohamed Salah has set a new record after scoring four times in Egypt's 6-0 thrashing of Djibouti in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 31-year-old became Egypt's all-time leading scorer in World Cup qualifiers after netting a quadruple on Thursday night in Cairo. The Liverpool star has now scored 15 goals for the Pharaohs in the qualifiers.
Having missed the last edition in Qatar, the seven-time African champions declared their intentions early in the game after Salah opened the scoring in the 17th minute.
He doubled the lead five minutes later from the spot before completing his hat-trick three minutes after the break.
The former AS Roma forward crowned a majestic performance with his fourth in the 69th minute.
Mostafa Mohamed and Trezeguet added two more goals in the final twenty minutes as the North Africans got off to a great start in the World Cup qualifiers, as reported by GOAL.
Meanwhile, he remains the second all-time top scorer for Egypt with 55 goals in 95 appearances, behind Hossam Hassan with 68 goals.
