- The Portuguese superstar is building a retirement home in his country
- Ronaldo's neighbours are reportedly infuriated by ongoing construction
Cristiano Ronaldo is presently in the process of constructing a lavish mansion in his native Portugal, yet not everyone in the vicinity seems thrilled about it.
The Al-Nassr star's residence is rumoured to be the most expensive structure in Portugal and its impact in the area seems to be raising some discontent.
The enormous mansion, anticipated to be complete in the summer of 2024, is earmarked as the retirement residence for the 38-year-old football veteran.
The construction site, situated in Cascais - approximately 20 minutes from Lisbon - is estimated to be worth $22 million, featuring state-of-the-art facilities tailored to the preferences of Ronaldo and his family.
The ambitious project, as reported by Goal, will encompass four floors and multiple opulent suites encased in expansive glass walls offering panoramic views of the picturesque Portuguese landscape.
The mansion is also set to include a cinema room, a service area, a gym, a tennis court, and two garages to house Ronaldo's extensive collection of over 20 luxury cars from his days with Real Madrid and beyond.
Despite these grand plans, Ronaldo's neighbours seem to be far from pleased with the ongoing construction.
Ronaldo's neighbours furious at ongoing construction
Reports have suggested the budget for the Portuguese captain's opulent home has ballooned and the completion date has been extended, leading to dissatisfaction among those who share the neighbourhood with the Al-Nassr star.
One neighbour expressed satisfaction, per the Portuguese publication OK Diario, via Marca:
"The construction of the house still has at least another year to go. We've had enough!"
Another neighbour complained about having to endure three years of construction, describing the mansion as being so massive that it resembles a hospital.
Others complained of street closures and dust accumulation in gardens, prompting residents to attribute the project as the 'pyramid of Pharaoh Ronaldo'.
