Ghana Women's Premier League champions Ampem Darkoa are through to the CAF Women's Champions League semi-final after a dominant display saw them tear apart Huracanes in their final Group B game.

A brace from Tracey Twum and a late strike from Gnabekan Yanyimaya as Ampem Darkoa strolled to a 3-1 victory over the Equato-Guinean outfit.

Having lost their second group game following a 3-0 defeat to AS Mande, the Ghanaian champions got off to a flying start after Twum opened the scoring in the 9th minute with an expertly taken freekick.

The early goal gave Ampem Darkoa the edge as they kept pushing for a second, but Huracanes were resilient as they kept the score at 1-0 at half-time.

However, Ampem Darkoa were too difficult to handle after the break as Twum doubled the lead with 20 minutes remaining.

Yanyimaya extended the advantage with two minutes left before Essombe deep in injury time to pull one back for Hurcanes.

Ampem Darkoa finished top of Group B ahead of reigning champions AS FAR and will join Mamelodi Sundowns and Sporting Club Casablanca in the semi-finals.

Ampem Darkoa coach, Nana Joe Adarkwa, shared his excitement after achieving his first objective at the tournament.

"We achieved our first goal, which was to be in the semi-finals. Whatever happens, we will finish the competition with our heads held high. We are aware that the team we are going to meet is a strong team but, we will work hard to win the game," he said after the game, as quoted by cafonline.com.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies beat AS FAR

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ampem Darkoa beat AS FAR of Morocco in their opening game of the CAF Women's Champions League in Ivory Coast.

AS FAR took an early lead through Najat Badri in the first half, before a second-half masterclass from Comfort Yeboah saw the Ghanaian champions secure a historic win in the competition.

Ampem Darkoa are making their first appearance at the tournament after they won the WAFU Zone B Championship.
