FootballLyle Foster: Vincent Kompany Gives Update on Bafana Bafana Striker Ahead of Arsenal Clash in EPL
- Vincent Kompany has given an update on Lyle Foster ahead of Arsenal tie
- The Burnley manager will be without the South African striker against the Gunners
- Foster has been ruled out of action indefinitely due to his mental health issues
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has given an update on South African forward Lyle Foster ahead of their English Premier League game against Arsenal this weekend.
The English club side released an official statement on Thursday concerning the Bafana Bafana striker's mental health issues after missing their last three games.
Despite Burnley's struggle this season, the former Orlando Pirates star has done his bit by scoring three goals in the Premier League this campaign.
The Clarets are set to take on North London side Arsenal in their next league game but will be without the South African striker again.
Ahead of the game against the Gunners, Kompany claimed the 23-year-old striker has been having issues with his mental well-being, and he acknowledged that the club are fully focused on supporting the striker, according to a report by iDiskiTimes.
"Lyle has been having issues with his mental well-being and as a club, we’ve very quickly, very naturally, decided to fully support him, support his family, and offer him access to all the expertise and clinical support that he needs and at the moment," he said.
Foster's current mental health issue has kept him out of Hugo Broos' final 23-man squad for Bafana Bafana's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
