FootballArda Guler: Real Madrid and Turkish Wonderkid Suffers Another Injury Setback
- Arda Guler is expected to be out until December after sustaining another injury setback
- The Turkish wonderkid joined Real Madrid in the summer but has yet to play a single match for them
- His debut for the club has now been postponed three times
Arda Guler will have to wait a little longer to make his Real Madrid debut.
The Turkish wonderkid has suffered another injury setback and will not be involved in Real Madrid's La Liga clash against Valencia.
His debut has now been postponed three times, meaning the last time he played was in June for the Turkish national team in a Euro 2024 qualifier.
Several top European clubs were eyeing the 18-year-old's signature, but Real Madrid won the race and paid Fenerbahce slightly above €17.5 million in the summer, per 90min.
However, his time at Real Madrid has been far from ideal. He's been plagued with fitness issues, one of which he suffered shortly after manager Carlo Ancelotti declared him fit. He also underwent surgery in the summer.
Arda Guler sustains another injury
Speaking ahead of their La Liga clash on Saturday, Ancelotti confirmed that the youngster sustained an injury before their Champions League match against Braga.
“Unfortunately this happened before the game against Braga. It continues to bother him, it is not a serious thing… he is obviously depressed because he wants to play. It is a step back, but it is not a relapse. We have all of the international break to recover as best as possible,” he said, via Football Espana.
Reports in Spain indicate that his injury is much worse than Ancelotti says. According to the Athletic's Guillermo Rai, Guler has ruptured his right quadriceps and is expected to be out for up to a month.
The good news is he will have the international break, which starts after this weekend, to recover.

Modric hails Real Madrid wonderkid
Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric showering Guler with praise, referring to the young talent as a 'once-in-a-generation' player.
Guler, often compared to Lionel Messi due to his shared characteristics with the Argentine, completed a €20 million move to Madrid from Fenerbahce this summer.
Unfortunately, the 18-year-old has been unable to exhibit his skills at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium due to a meniscus injury he sustained in the pre-season.
