Top 10 lists of greatest athletes of all time always rub some fans the wrong way.

Football stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have solid cases for GOAT status; Michael Jordan is by acclamation the greatest basketball player ever; while Usain Bolt is considered the greatest track athlete.

A popular social media page asked their followers who the GOAT athlete is, and the results were interesting.

Messi came out on top of the list, while Ronaldo was second. These two football legends have battled each other in Europe for over a decade, and they've got a lot to show for it.
