Bellingham's display against Xavi Hernandez's team caught the attention of former Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique, who recently shared his thoughts in an interview with Catalan Radio RAC 1, as reported by Diario AS. He discussed various topics, including the English midfielder and Real Madrid's playing style.

Pique on Bellingham and Real Madrid

The retired Spanish defender, who reemerged into the footballing spotlight with the King's League competition, touched on Barcelona's rivalry with Real Madrid and the young midfielder.

Regarding Bellingham, Pique was quoted by Madrid Universal to have said:

"Bellingham is an outstanding and incredibly versatile player."

The 36-year-old former Barcelona defender also commented on the rivalry with Real Madrid, stating,

"We are in a country in which more people support Real Madrid than Barcelona.
"Madrid's current team is just more of the same. They don't offer much, but they get results, and when February comes around, they'll still be in with a chance of winning every competition, including the Champions League, of course.
"When we win, we are remembered forever. When they win, it's just one more. Their last Champions League victory was a miracle because they were second-best in every round, and nobody will remember it."

Pique also took a moment to acknowledge Vinicius Jr., expressing his admiration for players like him.

While Pique can no longer influence the outcomes on the pitch, the retired football star has aspirations of becoming the president of Barcelona one day, and he envisions building a formidable team that can surpass the achievements of Real Madrid.

Casillas trolls Pique

Sports Brief previously reported that Iker Casillas trolled Pique by requesting Shakira's hit song Waka Waka at the King's League, a seven-a-side tournament that the former Barcelona star organised.

Fans were chanting "Shakira Shakira" at one of the games, and the Real Madrid legend played along by asking for the song to be played to spite his old-time rival.
