- Ancelotti looks set to depart Real Madrid when his contract expires next summer
Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez is not sounding optimistic about succeeding Carlo Ancelotti as manager at the Spanish club despite being among the top contenders.
Jose Mourinho, Xabi Alonso, and Zinedine Zidane are among the other names currently being paraded within the club as possible successors to the veteran Italian manager, whose deal expires at the end of the season.
According to Football Espana, Raul has highlighted he is not thinking about the managerial position at Real Madrid at the moment when he was asked about the post in a recent interview.
“I’m a club person. I am delighted with what I do, the important thing is to help on a daily basis. Next year, next season, we will know. In this football thing, there is no such thing as next year. There is today and the next game. For Real Madrid it is the Champions League match, and for me it is the Murcia match on Sunday.”
Raul is presently in charge of Real Madrid’s B-team Castilla and was rumoured to be seeking to be promoted to manage the first team when Carlo Ancelotti leaves the club.
Real Madrid identifies next manager
Meanwhile, when Carlo Ancelotti leaves the Santiago Bernabeu at the conclusion of the season, Real Madrid would like to employ Brighton head coach Roberto de Zerbi as their next manager, Daily Post reports.
Los Blancos will do all they can to persuade the 44-year-old manager to take charge at the Santiago Bernabeu, who took over at English Premier League side Brighton last season from Graham Potter.
De Zerbi immediately won over Brighton supporters with his appealing and positive football style after leading the Seagulls to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season.

The veteran Italian manager is expected to leave his post at Madrid at the end of the season to take over as Brazil’s boss, leading the Spanish club to start sorting for the best candidate for the managerial position.
