  • Robert Lewandowski could be on his way out of Barcelona next summer
  • The Poland striker is on the radar of top Saudi and MLS clubs
  • Lewandowski has made 10 goal contributions for Barcelona this season

Barcelona could be set to lose top striker Robert Lewandowski to the Saudi Pro League or Major League Soccer next season after some clubs in both regions showed interest in him.

The 34-year-old forward, who led La Blaugrana to the La Liga title last season, has been on the wishlist for top Saudi and MLS clubs over time, and they could reignite their interest in him again next summer.

According to Football Espana, Saudi club Al Abha came armed with €150 million for Lewandowski in the summer but were knocked back by both Barcelona and the player.

The 34-year-old forward, whose deal with Barcelona expires in 2026, would also be worth a DP contract from any MLS team, instantly elevating him to one of the league's highest earners, GOAL reports.

Lewandowski has struggled to hit peak form this season for the reigning La Liga champions after battling with injuries, as he has managed just six goals and four assists in all competitions.

Barcelona needs Lewandowski more now

Meanwhile, Barcelona see Robert Lewandowski as a role model for the younger generation coming through and would not settle to allow the 34-year-old forward to leave the club so soon, The Athletic reports.

The Catalan club decided to make the Poland striker a fundamental part of their project in the summer of 2022, offering him a three-year contract with an option for a fourth.

Thus far, there’s no player within the Barcelona squad or even in La Liga at large that has the finishing talent he has, which is a vital asset for the club in their bid to retain the league title.

Barcelona eye Lewandowski’s replacements

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Super Eagles strikers, Victor Boniface and Victor Osimhen as potential replacements for 35-year-old Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish striker joined the Catalans from Bayern Munich last summer in a deal reportedly worth €50 million, leading them to the La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup.

Despite Lewandowski's success with La Blaugrana, manager Xavi Hernandez is said to be planning for the future and is looking for an eventual replacement for Lewandowski.
