FootballNewcastle vs Arsenal: Jorginho Becomes First Player to Publicly Speak About VAR Drama
- Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday against Newcastle United
- Anthony Gordon scored the only goal of the match as the Magpies stormed to victory
- However, the Arsenal camp contested the goal, with a section of fans and pundits contending it should not have stood
Italian midfielder Jorginho has become the first Arsenal player to publicly speak about the VAR drama that marked their Premier League clash against Newcastle United.
The Gunners took the Saturday trip to St. James' Park with the hope of maintaining their impressive domestic run since the start of the season.
Until Saturday, Arsenal had not lost a Premier League game this season, winning seven of their last 10 outings, while drawing three.
But that came to an end this weekend during their clash against the Magpies, which saw them pick their first EPL defeat of the season, albeit controversially.
Sportbible reports that Anthony Gordon was responsible for the Gunners' loss, with his solitary goal the only difference during the tie.
However, many contend the goal should not have stood, considering the massive blunders in its build-up, including the ball seemingly going out of play and Gabi getting fouled.
Jorginho speaks on Newcastle VAR drama
Jorginho has now taken to social media to speak about the VAR farce, with the former Chelsea star branding the incident as 'unacceptable.'
"Proud of the team. Unacceptable what happened though. But we keep fighting," he posted on Instagram.
The midfielder's post came just hours after Arsenal sent out a strongly-worded statement in the wake of their defeat.
The north Londoners will be back in action on Wednesday when they will take on Sevilla in the Champions League.
