FootballReal Madrid’s Official Statement Regarding Kylian Mbappe Stirs Mixed Reaction from Fans
- Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe
- Reports of the La Liga giant agreeing to a deal in principle with the player has emerged
- The Spanish club recently released an official statement regarding the Paris Saint-Germain forward
The ongoing transfer saga between Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe seems unending.
Speculations about the Paris Saint-Germain forward joining the La Liga giants have been a recurring theme in recent summer transfer windows. However, the 2023 window took these talks to new heights.
According to Goal, Mbappe sent a letter to PSG's hierarchy, expressing his desire not to extend his contract beyond the summer of 2024.
This move fuelled further speculation of a verbal agreement with Real Madrid, and talks of an immediate transfer heralded the headlines. Nevertheless, Mbappe decided to remain at the Parc des Princes for the 2023-24 season.
With the France captain's reluctance to extend his contract, rumours about his potential move to Los Blancos gained even more traction. Amid these mounting speculations, Real Madrid have issued an official statement denying any negotiations with the Paris Saint-Germain forward.
This statement, as reported on the club's official website, reads:
"Given information in the media about negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappé and our club, Real Madrid state that this information is categorically false".
"Negotiations have not taken place with a player who belongs to PSG".
The statement by the club has been greeted with mixed reactions, given reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via Madrid Xtra stating that the club officially denied the growing rumours so as to avoid any problems between the forward and PSG.
Fans, however didn't waste time to react to the statement.
