FootballRomelu Lukaku: Former Inter Milan Star Accused of Lack of Respect After Joining AS Roma
- Romelu Lukaku's transfer saga is still sparking emotive reactions in Milan
- Lukaku bailed out on Inter Milan at the last minute to pursue a deal with Juventus
- He recently returned to the San Siro where he was accorded a harsh reception
Inter Milan's hierarchy are still angry at how Romelu Lukaku treated them in the summer at the height of his transfer negotiations with Chelsea.
Lukaku was determined to return to Milan for another season-long loan after making it clear he won't be remaining with the Blues.
The Nerazzurri were keen on signing the Belgian back and had embarked on settling on a reasonable fee with Chelsea, only for the striker to start entertaining offers from other clubs, most notably Juventus.
Inter, angry at what they termed as 'betrayal,' pulled out of the negotiations altogether. In Turin, Juventus fans led protests, warning the club against signing the former Manchester United forward.
Inter Milan: Lukaku lacked respect
Piero Ausilio, Inter Milan's sporting director, has now revealed how the situation unravelled on their end.
"I prefer not to talk about a player currently at another club. Lukaku is part of the past: with him, we won a Scudetto, lost two finals and he brought us an important capital gain," he said as quoted by GOAL.
Ausilio blamed the 30-year-old for ducking phone calls and not treating the negotiations in good faith.
"All I'm saying is that there has to be politeness and respect. There are deals that do not get done, but if there is respect, it is never a problem. When, on the other hand, one hides or sends replies via other people, then one thinks about moving on."
Lukaku joined Jose Mourinho's AS Roma and has since made a comeback to San Siro, where he received a harsh reception on October 29. Roma lost the game by a solitary goal thanks to a Marcus Thuram strike.

Mourinho's comment on Europa League final
At the same time, Sports Brief reported on Jose Mourinho's audacious claim about last season's final as his team regrouped for another attempt to win the competition.
Roma lost the final under controversial conditions to Sevilla in Budapest last season, and the Special One insists his team did not lose the game and he'd continue to hold on to that claim.
