Ex-Nigerian international who manages NPFL side Lobi Stars, Barnabas Imenger, is dead.
The sad news was confirmed by the club's media officer Austin Tyowua who stated that the former midfielder passed away in the wee hours of Monday, March 22.
It was gathered that he had succumbed to a protracted illness with Lobi Stars admitting gthe loss is a huge one, not just to the team, but entire country at large.
He described the demise of the Lobi Stars’ team manager as a huge loss to the team and the country at large.
“The news is true, we have lost a rare gem at Lobi Stars and Nigeria as a whole, thanks for your concern,” Mr Tyowua told Nigerian outlet Premium Times.
It was gathered that Imenger had been in and out of the hospital for some months before his eventual demise on Monday.
Further findings have it that Imenger was placed on life support at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State, and after the situation got worse, he was then referred to the National Hospital in Abuja.
The year 2021 has witnessed the death of some former Nigeria internationals; including Joe Erico, Yisa Sofoluwe, and lately Jide Dina who died earlier this month after a protracted illness.
