- The Reds maintain a perfect start to their UEFA Europa League campaign
- Salah became the top scorer for an English club in European competitions
Mohamed Salah took another giant step toward being regarded as one of the greatest players to play in English football after scoring his 43rd European goal.
Salah came off the bench to score Liverpool's fifth goal in their 5-1 demolition of Toulouse in the UEFA Europa League group stage game last night.
He came on with the scores already at 4-1 with goals from Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo, who scored his first goal for the club.
The Reds came off the back of a 2-0 Merseyside derby victory over Everton and will host Nottingham Forest next in the league as they continue their fine start to the season.
Salah breaks Henry's record
Per The Athletic, the Egyptian winger's goal last night was his 43rd in European competitions for Liverpool, making him the highest-scoring player for an English club.
He surpassed Arsenal legend Thierry Henry's tally of 42 goals and has two European trophies to add to it, with the Frenchman not winning a UEFA trophy for Arsenal.
Sergio Aguero, Didier Drogba and Harry Kane make up the rest of the top five. Kane is the highest-scoring English player, though his tally cannot increase for now after leaving to join Bayern Munich last summer.
As noted by LFC History, his brace on Saturday also wrote him into the record book after surpassing Steven Gerrard and Sir Kenny Dalglish to become the club's sixth all-time top scorer at Anfield.
The former Chelsea winger signed a contract last summer worth £350,000 per week. Per BBC Sports, the club received a £150 million offer from Al-Ittihad in the summer, which was outrightly rejected.
