Nigerian heavyweight, Enyimba Football Club, have crashed out of the maiden edition of the money-spinning African Football League.

The People’s Elephants were defeated 4-0 on aggregate as they waved goodbye to the tournament, which promised staggering amounts for participating teams.

The second leg was entirely different as the Aba-based side were thrashed 3-0 away from home in a spectacular fashion, according to FIFA information.

It took just four minutes for the hosts to open the scoring through Ayoub El Amloud inside the Mohamed V Stadium.

Jarmal Harkass doubled their lead in the 38th minute before Yahia Attiyat Allah completed the rout just two minutes before halftime.

It ended 3-0 on the night and 4-0 on aggregate as the Moroccan side cruised through to the semi-final of the maiden edition of the competition.

Enyimba created some chances, but they were tepid in the final third and rushed their chances when they came, bowing out of the money-spinning tournament with $1m.

According to an official statement by CAF, the winners of the inaugural edition of the African Football League will take home a staggering $ 4 million in prize money.

Al Ahly earn crucial draw against Simba SC

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ahmed Kahraba's late strike helped Egyptian giants Al Ahly to a pulsating 2-2 draw against Simba SC in the opening game of the African Football League.

The new pan-African competition kicked off on Friday in Tanzania with Simba SC hosting Al Ahly in a historic game at the fully-packed Benjamin Mpaka National Stadium.

After an electric start to the game, it was Ahly who would open the scoring through Reda Slim at the stroke of half-time after finishing off neatly following a Kharaba assist.
