Gabriel and Diego Milito (2010)

Barcelona vs. Inter Milan (2nd leg semis)

The Milito brothers made history in 2010 when Barcelona faced Inter Milan in the second leg of their semi-final clash at Camp Nou.

Gabriel and Diego became the first pair of brothers to face each other in a Champions League match, per UEFA.com.

Interestingly enough, both of them won that night.

Centre-back Gabriel’s Barcelona defeated Inter Milan 1-0 in that contest.

Unfortunately for him and the Catalan giants, that result wasn’t enough for them to advance to the final.

Forward Diego’s Inter won 3-2 on aggregate as they recorded a 3-1 victory in the first leg at the San Siro.

Thiago Alcantara and Rafinha (2015)

Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich (1st leg semis)

Thiago Alcantara and Rafinha became the second pair of brothers to square off in a Champions League match, but their meeting in 2015 only lasted a few minutes.

Thiago started for Bayern Munich in the first leg of their semi-final clash against Barcelona, while Rafinha was named as one of the Spanish club’s substitutes.

The moment they had been waiting for finally arrived in the 87th minute when Rafinha replaced midfielder Andres Iniesta in Barca's lineup.

Barcelona went on to win 3-0 in that match, following a Lionel Messi brace and an injury-time goal by Neymar in the second half.

That proved to be the brothers' only meeting in the semis, with Luis Enrique opting not to use Rafinha in the second leg.

Łukasz and Adrian Cieślewicz (2015)

B36 Tórshavn vs. The New Saints (first qualifying round)

Łukasz and Adrian Cieślewicz’s teams squared off twice in the first qualifying round of the Champions League in July 2015, making them the third pair of brothers to lock horns in this tournament.

Adrian’s TNS dominated Lukasz’s B36 over two legs, winning 6-2 on aggregate.

Lukasz managed to score a consolation goal in the second leg with B36 already down 4-0 at that stage.

Lucas and Théo Hernández (2023)

PSG vs. AC Milan (Group Stage)

The Champions League waited eight years before another pair of brothers featured in their tournament as opponents.

That honour belonged to Lucas and Theo Hernandez, who faced each other on Matchday 3 as members of Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.

Lucas gave his brother Theo a rude welcome as PSG recorded a 3-0 victory in their Group F clash.

Theo was part of the AC Milan defence that conceded goals to Kylian Mbappé, Randal Kolo Muani, and Kang-in Lee.

Theo will look to exact revenge on his brother’s team when AC Milan host PSG at the San Siro on November 7.
