Gaston Sirino has finally broken his silence following his return to Mamelodi Sundowns' starting lineup after being poised to leave the Brazilians in the transfer window.

The former Bolivar winger was frozen out of the club's training for some time, but he is now back in the team fully.

The Uruguayan-born forward returned to the team for the first time this season in their Carling Knockout Cup tie against TS Galaxy.

The 32-year-old was a second-half substitute and scored a last-minute equaliser against the Rockets, but they eventually lost in the penalty shootout.

Sirino got his first start this season in the African Football League against Angolan side Petro de Luanda at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday, October 25.

During an interview, according to a report by iDiskiTimes, the Sundowns winger claimed that he is happy to be back in the team after the whole issue with the club.

"I'm very happy to be back and wearing this shirt with pride. I went through a bit of a difficult time, but that is over now," he said.
"I hope we can still get the remaining titles for the club. Today’s game was difficult because we were left with 10 men in just two minutes. We had to double our efforts. We did it, and I’m proud. As difficult as it was we had to grind together."

Mokwena discusses Sirino’s future at Sundowns

Sports Brief earlier reported that Rulani Mokwena touched on Sirino's situation with the club after the player previously asked to leave.

The Uruguayan attacker was a notable absentee for the club this season, and coach Mokwena shed a little more light on the situation.

The 32-year-old has been at the club for six seasons and has won a trophy with the team every season so far.
