Harry Maguire could reportedly continue at Manchester United beyond the January transfer window after hitting top form in recent days.

The centre-back had been staring at an uncertain future at Old Trafford after he fell out of favour under Erik ten Hag.

The former United skipper came close to leaving the club in the summer and was linked with a move to West Ham.

According to The Guardian, the England international was expected to join the Hammers in a £30million transfer deal.

However, the proposed move fell through, with Maguire forced to stay at the Theatre of Dreams.

While the former Leicester City ace struggled for game time at the start of the season, Ten Hag has been left with no choice but to afford him some minutes in recent days following injuries to Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

Maguire has gone on to justify his inclusion with impressive performances and made a mark on Tuesday night by scoring his side's only goal against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

His goal came just days after he staged a Man of the Match performance against Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Maguire expected to stay at Man United

According to reports, the former United skipper is expected to continue at the club after hitting top form.

Give Me Sport, citing transfer insider Dean Jones, reports that the 30-year-old may not leave Old Trafford as initially expected.

Maguire is currently in his fifth season with the Red Devils, having joined them in the summer of 2019 under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

While he was previously a mainstay figure at the club, he has fallen down the pecking order under Ten Hag, who prefers the partnership of Martinez and Varane.

Sports Brief also reported on how Mesut Ozil applauded Maguire and Onana at full-time after the duo’s heroics in the Copenhagen win.

After their heroics, the former Arsenal star took to social media and praised the two players.
