The Red Devils had endured a difficult start to the European campaign, losing both of their Group A fixtures against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

However, the Premier League giants were able to get their campaign back on track after they secured a 1-0 vital win against Copenhagen at Old Trafford.

Maguire, Onana get standing ovation

Maguire and Onana played a pivotal part in the victory, with the former scoring the only goal of the match.

Sky Sports reports that the embattled centre-back headed home the solitary goal in the 72nd minute.

However, Scott McTominay conceded a penalty deep into stoppage time with a clumsy challenge to leave his side in danger.

The midfielder had Onana to thank after the match, with the Cameroonian goalkeeper producing a heroic save to deny Jordan Larsson.

Sportbible reports that the contribution made by Onana and Maguire in the match saw the duo get a standing ovation from United supporters.

According to the publication, the United support base gave the pair a rousing reception as they headed down the tunnel.

Onana breaks silence after penalty save

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Onana has shared his excitement after his last-minute heroics helped the Red Devils to their first win in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Onana has been hugely criticized for his performances since joining the club in the summer transfer window.

However, the former Ajax goalie seems to have rediscovered the form that convinced United to pay huge money for his services.

Onana joined the former English champions from Inter Milan.
