Orlando Pirates manager, Jose Riveiro has disclosed why he substituted Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo a few minutes after he came on in their goalless draw against AmaZulu FC.

Pirates missed the chance to seal all three points at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday, October 24.

After the game, Riveiro explained why he took the decision to replace the attacking midfielder, according to a report by Soccer Laduma.

"He got a clearance that went close to his eye and during seven to eight minutes on the pitch he could only use one of his eyes," he said.

The Buccaneers manager went further to confirm that the Pirates midfielder was blind in his right eye after being hit with a ball on his face.

"So he was blind in the right eye and it didn’t improve after the treatment with the doctors. That’s why we decided to sub him, unfortunately," he added.

The Bucs failed to close in on league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, but still have three outstanding games to play.

Riveiro's side have eight points from six games this season, and they will face Polokwane City in their next league game at the Orlando Stadium on Friday, October 27.
