- The Braga coach recently identified what worries him most about Los Blancos
Real Madrid are currently on a string of away fixtures, with their next stop being in Portugal to face Sporting Braga in the third match of the UEFA Champions League season.
Carlo Ancelotti's side who have had an immense start to the 2023/24 campaign, are heavy favourites squaring up against Artur Jorge's side who are appearing in the UCL for the third time in their long history.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid anticipates a challenging match, as they have sometimes struggled against defensively disciplined teams who opt to play out low blocks.
In the lead-up to the match, which marks the first-ever meeting between these two teams as reported by UEFA.com, Sporting Braga's 51-year-old manager expressed his concerns about facing the La Liga giants.
Braga coach speaks on facing Madrid
Speaking to Marca in anticipation of his side's most significant match of the year, he acknowledged the challenge that Real Madrid poses. He stated,
"It's a great challenge for us. We know that we are up against one of the best teams in the world, and we are proud to compete at this level."
He emphasized their intention to stay true to their playing style and aim to score as their primary objective.
When asked about what worries him the most regarding the current Real Madrid setup, the Portuguese tactician pointed out the team's collective strength as the most significant concern. He explained,
"Everything, but above all, it's their collective strength. They have players with exceptional individual qualities, making it impossible to single out just one player. They are a very dangerous team when in possession of the ball, and their positional play is highly effective. We must closely monitor their movements and timing when they have possession."
Jude Bellingham opens up on his long term ambition with the England national team
FootballWhile Real Madrid remains the heavy favourite in the clash against Braga, doubts have emerged about the effectiveness of their recent 4-4-2 diamond formation. The ability of Diego Alonso's Sevilla side to secure a point against Ancelotti's team may provide a confidence boost for the Portuguese club.
Real Madrid struggle at Sevilla
Sports Brief in a previous report stated Real Madrid were held to a draw at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan against Sevilla.
Carlo Ancelotti's side were far from their best on the night and had to come from behind to salvage a draw for themselves.
The draw meant that Real Madrid were joined at the top of the league standings by Girona. A victory for the Catalan club in their fixture against struggling UD Almeria ensured their fantastic start to the season was upheld.
