Recently, Valverde discussed his most formidable opponent during an interview on Twitch.

When asked about the player who posed the most significant challenge to him, he responded with the name of the former Barcelona captain, "Messi", as reported by Madrid Xtra.

For a significant portion of his initial four years at Real Madrid, Valverde was tasked with containing Messi whenever their paths crossed on the field.

During the live stream, Valverde also revealed that there was a club he nearly joined before signing with Los Blancos, and that club was "Arsenal."

As reported by Caught offside, this places the midfielder in a prestigious list of world-class players who came close to joining North London club alongside the likes of retired Sweden Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Al Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo.

In hindsight, Valverde certainly doesn't regret his decision to move to Spain, given the substantial growth he has experienced during his time at the club. He has achieved numerous titles, including the UEFA Champions League and two La Liga crowns.
