Despite managing a win over a ten-man Mozambican side, former Nigerian international Peter Ijeh has stated that lots of modifications must be made to the Super Eagles.
After a 2-2 draw with the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia in an international friendly, Nigeria returned to winning ways, defeating the Mambas 3-2.
But the Super Eagles had to do it the hard way, coming from behind in both games, with goalkeeper Francis Uzoho struggling to keep his composure in between the sticks.
Against Saudi Arabia, the Omonia of Cyprus shot-stopper parried the ball into his own net, giving Saudi the lead.
The same fate happened in their clash with the Mambas, with the goalkeeper found wanting as the ball went past him twice.
The friendlies were arranged as part of the preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which start in November, and the Africa Cup of Nations, beginning in January, Channels TV reports.
Peter Ijeh, who had five caps for the Nigerian senior national team, suggested that the goalkeeper needs more composure and confidence. He told Sports Brief:
“Lots of modifications are needed to make the Super Eagles more formidable.
“Giving the goalkeeper another chance, I believe, is to build up his composure and confidence, but yet, the defence isn’t solid enough to protect the goalie:
“It is a corporate responsibility. Is the goalie dishing out info that the defence isn’t following?
“Is he commanding the box enough? Is the defence line defending good enough to protect the goalie?

Nigerians blast Uzoho
Sports Brief earlier reported that Nigerians have taken to social media to express their displeasure following Francis Uzoho's howler against Mozambique.
One of the major highlights of the first half was Francis Uzoho's error that led to the Mambas' goal in the match.
Nigerians on social media were not happy with the Super Eagles goalkeeper for making yet another mistake during this international break.
