According to Tribuna, it turned out the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner hopped on his private jet and headed to his hometown of Rosario.

The Inter Miami superstar's journey was to commemorate a truly special day – Mother's Day, which is celebrated on October 15 in Argentina.

There's no doubt that Mama Celia will be overjoyed to have her son back home.

This touching moment further cements his reputation as a devoted son and a true inspiration both on and off the pitch.

Argentina achieved a remarkable three consecutive wins to kick off the qualifying tournament, putting them in the lead with nine points, per AS.

They are currently ahead of Brazil, who have seven points, and Colombia, who have five points. Messi has contributed one goal in two matches.

Argentina aim to continue winning streak

Meanwhile, Sports Mole reported that Argentina will aim for a fourth consecutive win in their 2026 World Cup qualification group as they head to Peru on Tuesday night.

Under the leadership of Lionel Scaloni, the reigning world champions are currently leading the group with nine points.

In contrast, Peru has struggled in this section, managing only one point from three games, placing them in the ninth position.

Messi declines to take armband from Otamendi

Sports Brief previously reported that Nicholas Otamendi started as the side's captain, with the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner watching from the subs bench.

As he was being introduced for the World Champions, the skipper made a gesture to the Benfica defender that implied Messi wasn't interested in the armband.

However, the former Manchester City star declined the offer and ended up 'forcing' the armband on him as they shared a great moment together.
