FootballCarlo Ancelotti: Real Madrid Boss Responds to Rumours Linking Him With Brazil Job
- Carlo Ancelotti has been heavily linked with the Brazil managerial job
- Brazil's football federation appeared to confirm that the Italian will take over next year
- The Real Madrid boss has now dismissed the rumours linking him with the job
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed rumours linking him with the Brazil job. The Italian's contract expires in 2024, and he could reportedly be planning to transition to international football.
The five-time world champions have not had a manager since the resignation of Tite after the 2022 World Cup heartbreak.
In July, Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president Ednaldo Rodrigues appeared to confirm that Ancelotti will become Brazil's next manager when announcing Fluminense boss Fernando Diniz had been given a one-year contract to lead Brazil, per the Athletic.
Diniz's one-year deal and Ancelotti's expiring deal signal that the four-time Champions League winner could lead Brazil to the 2024 Copa America and the 2026 World Cup.
However, Real MAdrid's young crop of talent like Jude Bellingham, Arda Gukler and Vinicius Junior could persuade him to stay.
Ancelotti dismisses Brazil job rumours
According to Diario AS, as reported by Football Espana, Ancelotti reiterated that he is happy at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Rumours, everything is rumours. Right now I am very happy at Real Madrid. We have started the season very well and hopefully we can end it in the same way.”
Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior appeared to campaign for Ancelotti to lead Brazil and Madrid earlier this year. His teammate Rodrygo also wants Ancelotti to manage Brazil.
Brazil have faltered since they won their last World Cup title in 2002. Despite having one of the most talented squads, they have been outsmarted by some of Europe's biggest teams and if hired, Ancelotti will be looking to address that.
Brazil’s President unsure of Ancelotti
Sports Brief also reported on Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, being unconvinced about the decision of the country's FA to appoint Ancelotti as Selecao manager despite his success in Europe.
The Samba Boys have been without a head coach since Tite resigned after the team was eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup by Croatia, with the Italian expected to help reclaim their former glory.
