Al Nassr star, Sadio Mane joined global music icon Akon in performing a popular Senegalese dance on the stage for the Africa Cup of Nations draw in Abidjan.

Akon, a Senegalese-American singer, was the host of the draw at the Parc Des Expositions in Abidjan on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Mane was part of the players selected to assist in conducting the draw.

In a video shared on social media, Akon invited the player on stage and while he took his position behind his pot, the duo spoke in Senegalese slang before briefly dancing together.

The draw for the 2023 tournament was successfully conducted with the 24 qualified nations finding out their opponents at the group stage.

Mane led Senegal to their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title in 2022, scoring the winning penalty in the final against Egypt.

Meanwhile, the defence of their title will see them come up against five-time champions Cameroon in Group C.

Three-time champions Nigeria will also face host Ivory Coast in Group A while the Black Stars renew their rivalry with Egypt, as reported by si.com.

Mane wears locally-made kaftan at AFCON draw

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Sadio Mane displayed his true African heritage as he arrived at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations draw in his Senegal-made Kaftan.

The 31-year-old is one of the players selected to assist the draw currently being held in Abidjan at the Parc Des Expositions.

Mane led Senegal to their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title in 2022 after scoring the winning penalty against Egypt in the final last year.

Akon host 2023 AFCON draw in Ivory Coast

Famous Senegalese-American singer, Akon was the host of the Africa Cup of Nations draw in Ivory Coast on October 12, 2023.

The business mogul was joined by former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star, Sadio Mane, for the final draw of the tournament, which will be held in January and February next year.

The event will see 24 countries divided into six groups for the continental championship.
