Bayern Munich have confirmed that first-choice Manuel Neuer is set to make his long-awaited comeback from a 10-month injury after the October international break.
The 37-year-old goalkeeper has been sidelined since December 1, 2022, after breaking his legs during a skiing incident while on holiday last season.
Bayern have done well so far this early into the season without Neuer though, being one of the teams in the Bundesliga to have not conceded a lot of goals.
According to Bulinews, Sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed Neuer could make his first appearance for the Bavarians against Mainz on October 21 or Galatasaray on October 24.
"Things are looking really good. Manuel is going to use the time now and train. We're very positive about him being on the pitch and getting into rhythm.
"Whether [his return] will be in the next game or the one after that, we'll see. But we believe it will happen soon."
Neuer last featured in a competitive game on December 1 in Germany's final World Cup group stage match against Costa Rica before the skiing accident.

The return of Neuer gives a light of optimism to Bayern Munich, who have sorely missed their captain's authoritative presence in goal this season as they pursue a 12th consecutive Bundesliga title.
