Real Madrid appears poised to address their long-standing left-back predicament, which has persisted since the decline and subsequent departure of their former captain, Marcelo Viera.

Despite recently adding academy graduate Fran Garcia to cover for the injury-prone Ferland Mendy, the La Liga club seems dissatisfied with their current left-back options. The glaring lack of a world-class left-back became evident in recent matches when midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was forced to step in as an auxiliary left-back for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

According to Football Espana, Real Madrid has ambitious plans to secure a new first-choice left-back, and their gaze is firmly set on Alphonso Davies. The 22-year-old has been on Los Blancos’ radar for some time, and they intend to make their move next summer.

Real Madrid to sign Alphonso Davies

As reported by Diario AS, Davies is Real Madrid’s primary target for the full-back position in the upcoming summer transfer window. His contract with Bayern Munich runs until 2025, but if he doesn’t sign a new deal by the end of this season, the German champions may consider selling him to avoid losing him for free.

Recently, Davies’ agent addressed the interest from Real Madrid in the Canadian international, making a deal seem increasingly likely. However, Bayern Munich is determined to retain one of their star players and won’t make his departure easy.

The potential transfer of Davies to Madrid could also be facilitated by his close relationship with current Los Blancos defender David Alaba, whom Davies replaced at the Allianz Arena after Alaba’s move to Real Madrid.

Bellingham equals Ronaldo's UCL record

Sports Brief also reported on Bellingham equalling Cristiano Ronaldo's record in the Champions League after he scored against Napoli.

After providing Vinicius Jr. with an assist, the midfielder went on to secure a goal for himself in the 34th minute with a sublime solo effort.
