AFC Leopards' pathetic start to the season continued as they fell to their sworn enemies, Gor Mahia, in a top-flight Kenyan match at the Kasarani Stadium on October 7.

Last season's top goalscorer Benson Omala was the tormentor-in-chief in the Saturday afternoon clash, scoring twice to condemn Ingwe to their second loss of the season.

First-half match report

Victor Munyendo had the first chance of the game in the 18th minute, but the Ingwe midfielder failed to keep his effort down.

Two minutes later, Victor 'Aguero' Otieno stung the hand of Kevin Omondi in the Gor Mahia, who deflected the shot out for a corner kick.

It was from the corner that Gor Mahia sprung a counter-attack. Austin Odhiambo, who scored the last time the two sides met, threaded a wonderful pass to Benson Omala, who had acres of space in front of him to exploit.

AFC Leopards' goalkeeper Levis Opiyo came off his line in a bid to shut down the striker. Omala then chipped the ball past the goalkeeper with the ball rolling beautifully into the back of the net, sparking celebrations in the green corner.

Ingwe's Kaycie Odhiambo went into the referee's book in the 38th minute after he fouled Mugisha. Clifton Miheso's freekick was rebuffed on the line three minutes before the break.

Omala's second goal

K'Ogalo picked up from where they left in the second half, with their efforts finally paying off in the 56th minute. Rwandan import Patrick Sibomana beat a couple of players on the right flank before sending in a cross, which the Leopards' defence failed to deal with.

Omala, who was arriving on the back post, was left with the easiest of tap-ins to score his second of the game and his side's second as well. Replays showed that he might have strayed offside as Sibomana released the ball.

He became the 11th person in the history of the Mashemeji derby to score a brace and the first one after Dan Sserenkuma.

Gor Mahia have now cut Posta Rangers' lead at the top to four points. Leopards are second from last as pressure mounts on Juma.

Kenyan celebration on EAFC 24

Sports Brief has also reported that a goal celebration inspired by Kenyan international Sven Yidah has made its way to the popular video game EAFC 24.

The latest edition of the game, formerly known as FIFA, was released on September 29 with a number of upgrades and additions to enhance the user experience.

One interesting new addition is the HyperMotion technology that aims to increase the authenticity of football gameplay.
