Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has harshly attacked the Spanish media, criticising their reaction to Vinicius Junior's testimony in court in a racism case in Valencia.
On Thursday, October 5, the Brazilian appeared in a Valencia court to testify against three people suspected of racially abusing him, and has since faced backlash from the media.
According to Football Espana, Ancelotti has now accused the Spanish media of trying to divert attention from the ongoing racism trial against Vinicius after the Brazilian was accused of lying by a Valencia newspaper.
“Here they are trying to divert attention because Vinicius has been the victim of racial insults. There are media outlets that want to divert attention from the real issue here, and it makes me sad and angry.”
In the aftermath of the racist attack on Vinicius, La Liga banned a part of Mestalla for three games, but the penalty was often limited to individual fans.
Valencia blasts Real Madrid attacker Vinicius
Meanwhile, Valencia refuted Vinicius Junior’s claims that the whole Mestalla Stadium hurled insults at him during a La Liga game in May in which the Real Madrid star was racially abused, Tribal Football reports.
The La Liga club released a statement after the Brazilian had testified in court debunking the accusations as they expressed their surprise, rejection, and indignation at the allegations.
Valencia acknowledged that racism has no place in football or in society but emphasized it cannot be fought with fallacies or unfounded lies in a subtle jab at Real Madrid’s Vinicius.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Vinicius found himself in the midst of controversy once again, this time due to a caricature image published by Valencia-based newspaper Superdeporte.
