Barcelona Dealt Huge Blow As New Forward Faces Three Month Spell on the Sidelines: Reports
- Barcelona recently completed the signing of striker Vitor Roque
- The young Brazilian is expected to join the Catalan club in January 2024
- The 18-year-old recently suffered a massive injury in his club’s clash against Internacional
Athletico Paranaense striker, Vitor Roque looked distraught as he was stretchered off after he picked up an injury in the Brazilian club’s Serie A win against Internacional.
Roque, who has been involved in 14 league goals in 22 appearances this season, recently signed a contract with La Liga powerhouse Barcelona and was billed to complete his switch to the Blaugrana in January.
According to reports from 90min, Roque’s injury comes as a massive blow to Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona following recent complaints about the form of current striker, Robert Lewandowski.
Vitor Roque suffers major injury
The young forward, who clutched his ankle, was on the receiving end of a bad tackle from Internacional defender Nicolas Hernandez and was subsequently stretched off in tears.
The future Barcelona forward is expected to be out for a minimum of three months, according to the media outlet report.
While the deal for the Brazilian sensation is finalised, the injury could further derail his early switch to the Catalan club.
The €38 million signing was beginning to generate a buzz amongst Barcelona fans. However, this injury could now prolong the wait for the forward.
According to reports from Goal, Roque is tipped to herald the list of superstars that will feature for Barcelona upon the completion and inauguration of the remodelled Camp Nou.
However, as Xavi’s side shifts their attention to their La Liga fixture against Celta Vigo, the club’s medical staff will be paying keen attention to the situation surrounding the young striker.
Roque hailed as 'new Ronaldo '
In a previous publication, Sports Brief reported that Barcelona are ready to spend big to buy two young Brazilian wonderkids, with one of them dubbed the “new Ronaldo” following his exploits.
