Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola once voiced his admiration for Cameroon and Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana, appreciating how good he is.

The Cameroon international has been in the news for the wrong reasons recently, as he continues to struggle between the sticks for Manchester United.

The former Ajax shot-stopper joined the Red Devils in the summer from Italian Serie A side Inter Milan.

The Barcelona academy graduate was part of the Inter side that made it to the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League final, but eventually lost to Premier League giants Manchester City.

Before the Champions League final, Guardiola had shared his honest thoughts about the former Inter Milan goalkeeper, according to reports on Complete Sports.

"Identifying the space and emptying the midfield is a special quality. Normally, teams have great keepers, but he [Onana] is exceptional with his feet," he previously said.

After the Cityzens were victorious in the final, the Spanish manager still showered praise on the new Manchester United goalkeeper.

"When you have a goalkeeper like Onana who can read perfectly, where everyone is to pass to, with Calhanoglu and Barella, then the strikers hold it up and move the ball around," the former Barcelona manager said after the Champions League final.
"It is very, very difficult. It would be a tiny bit easier without this goalkeeper, but still very tough."

Onana finished that season as one of the best goalkeepers in the Champions League alongside the likes of Ederson and Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois.

Rival fans troll Andre Onana

Sports Brief earlier reported that fans trolled Andre Onana after the goalkeeper shipped three goals against Arsenal to take his total goals conceded this season to eight.

The former Inter Milan star became one of the world's most expensive goalkeepers in the world when he was signed by United to replace David De Gea, who left at the expiration of his contract.

Onana has only shown glimpses of his passing range; he has yet to show that he's better than the Spaniard.
