Ten Hag Issues Update on Sancho’s Future at Manchester United: “It Depends on Him”
- Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Jadon Sancho will not be in Manchester United's squad to face Burnley
- The winger has not been selected since the game against Arsenal amid an uncertain future at the club
- Sancho's future remains in doubt, but the manager has told him what he must do
Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho remain at loggerheads, and the Dutch boss has ruled the winger out of the game against Burnley and provided an update on his future at Manchester United.
United will return to Premier League action tomorrow evening with a trip to Turf Moor to face newly-promoted Burnley, who are without a win this season.
The Red Devils are coming off the back of a three-game losing streak, which includes 3-1 losses to Arsenal and Brighton and a 4-3 opening-day UEFA Champions League loss to Bayern Munich.
The pressure is already on ten Hag to turn things around amidst reports of a dressing room rift over the handling of players, particularly Sancho, who had a public altercation with the manager.
Ten Hag's update on Sancho
The Dutch boss questioned the English winger's training attitude and dropped him for the game against Arsenal. He made this known to the public after the game, which sparked a response from the player.
The 23-year-old has been banished from first-team training. He deleted his social media post, which many thought signified a solution, but ten Hag ruled has now him out of the game against Burnley.
"It depends on him. For the rest, we are preparing for Burnley, and that's our focus. He will not be in the squad," he said, via Manchester Evening News.
According to Daily Star, the Red Devils are resigned to cutting their losses on the former Borussia Dortmund star, who was signed for £73m in 2021, and will accept an offer from the highest bidder in January.
