Paris Saint-Germain’s embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Champions League is still leaving a sour taste in the mouth of fans of the French club, but not manager, Luis Enrique.

The Spanish coach has been widely criticised for the tactics he deployed against the Magpies after he stuck with an attack-minded formation that saw Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani, Goncalo Ramos, and Kylian Mbappe all in the same starting XI.

According to PSG Talk, Enrique has now come out to defend himself and his tactics after deploying a 4-2-4 formation, deploying four attackers but leaving his defence exposed.

"Why this system? I am the coach; I decide. It’s a very favourable result for them. We do not deserve this result. Our goal is to go to the knockouts. It’s a difficult group, we know it, we are still second in Group F. It will be fun [in] the last matches."

Goals from Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff, and Fabian Schar condemned PSG to one of the club’s biggest defeats in the Champions League in recent times.

We didn’t deserve to lose - Enrique

Meanwhile, Enrique believes his PSG team did not deserve to lose by such a big scoreline to Newcastle in the UCL after their 4-1 defeat to the Magpies, Daily Post reports.

The Spanish manager accepted the blame for the heavy defeat as he acknowledged the Premier League club were effective in the last part of the pitch and his side made mistakes.

PSG will hope to bounce back to winning ways in the European competition when they host AC Milan at the Parc des Princes as they push to secure a ticket to the round of 16.

Mbappe advised to leave PSG immediately

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Mbappe being advised to leave PSG following his side's embarrassing defeat at the hands of Newcastle United this week.

On the occasion of the Magpies' first game at St. James' Park in 20 years, the French side suffered a heavy defeat to mark Newcastle's biggest UCL victory.

PSG superstar, Mbappe could not manage to produce a single shot on target during the game, underscoring his disappointing performance in England.
