Atletico Madrid talisman Antoine Griezmann scored his 31st Champions League goal on Wednesday, October 4, in their superb comeback against Dutch side Feyenoord.
By doing so, he surpassed some of the game's greatest players, Wayne Rooney, Samuel Eto'o and Kaka. That milestone came with a much-needed 3-2 win over Feyenoord.
After 87 games, Griezmann has now scored 31 Champions League goals, the same as Bayern Munich legend Arjen Robben, who played 110 games in the competition for four clubs.
The Frenchman has scored one more goal than Manchester United legend Rooney, Brazilian Kaka, and former Barcelona and Inter Milan legend Samuel Eto'o, per Squawka.
Interestingly, Griezmann has never won the competition. He played in the 2017 finals with Atletico but lost on penalties to Real Madrid. He's scored in the competition for 10 consecutive seasons.
Griezmann's career so far
The 32-year-old has had an incredible career and is one of the best players of his generation.
He has played over 600 games and scored 248 goals. 161 for Atletico, 52 for Real Sociedad, and 35 for Barcelona, per Transfermarkt.
Griezmann played a pivotal role in France's 2018 World Cup win and their run to the 2022 final. Despite having a great career, he has never won a league title.
He joined Barcelona in 2019, just after they had won La Liga, and his Atletico won two seasons later. He rejoined Atletico after they had won the title in 2021. However, he could still win the competition in the next few years.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Antoine Griezmann has openly acknowledged his interest in watching Lionel Messi perform in the MLS, where the latter has maintained his trademark dazzling form, consistently finding the net in every game.
The French forward also lauded Messi's significant influence on the league and noted that the presence of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, former teammates who joined Messi at his new club, has elevated the overall quality of the MLS.
