Some of these players have become all time top scorers of La Liga and legends since the league's inception. It is not surprising that Spanish clubs have won the Champions League a record 16 times and placed second an additional 11 times.

Many players have tried and failed to beat the La Liga record for most goals scored, a record that seemed unbreakable until serial Ballon d'Or winners Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo revolutionized the sport in Spain. 10. Karim Benzema - 200

After scoring a brace against RCD Mallorca in a 6-1 victory for Real Madrid, Karim Benzema became the 10th player to score 200 or more goals in La Liga. The 33-year-old, who is presently playing for Real Madrid for the 13th time, has already scored three goals this year.

Benzema has so far scored 200 goals for Real Madrid in 389 La Liga contests. He has already won three La Liga championships with Real Madrid, and this year he aims to add a fourth league crown.

Pahino, a.k.a. Manuel Fernández Fernández, played for three clubs over the course of 13 years in La Liga and won the golden boot twice. In 278 games, he netted 214 goals overall. The Spanish player had stints at Deportivo La Coruna, Celta Vigo, and Real Madrid, where he scored 111 goals in 128 appearances.

In the 11 consecutive seasons, he played in the top flight, he averaged just over 21 goals a season. Pahino never scored less than 14 in a season and recorded 35 goals for Los Blancos in the 1951/52 season.

Enrique Castro Gonzalez, better known as Quini, is regarded as one of FC Barcelona's greatest players. Enrique Castro Gonzalez, a legend at Sporting Gijon and a five-time winner of the Golden Boot, scored over 219 goals in 448 appearances. He played a significant role for Gijon, making 356 appearances and tallying 165 goals. The striker also made 116 appearances for FC Barcelona, scoring 65 goals in that period.

Cesar Rodriguez, one of FC Barcelona's all-time best players, with 221 goals in 353 La Liga games, ranking among the league's leading scorers. He won the league five times and the golden boot once. He also played for groups like Cultural Leonesa, Granada CF, and Elche CF.

Despite signing for Barcelona, he was forced to go out on loan to Granada when he was deployed in Andalusia for his military service. But when he returned, there was no looking back. He scored in double digits in 11 seasons at Barca and won five La Liga titles in the late ‘40s and early ‘50s.

Alfredo di Stefano, one of Real Madrid CF's most illustrious forwards has 227 goals in 329 La Liga games while donning their jersey. Di Stefano, regarded as one of the best attackers in the game and a two-time Ballon d'Or and five-time Golden Boot winner, has also played for RCD Espanyol. Di Stefano is among the top La Liga scorers of all time.

When the European Cup came into being, Di Stefano led Real Madrid to the first five European titles between 1955/56 and 1959/60, scoring goals in each final (seven in all). He also has eight league titles under his belt and won the Pichichi trophy five times.

Raul Gonzalez is yet another legendary player from Real Madrid CF who is included in the greatest scorers in La Liga's all-time list. He spent more than 16 years playing in Spain's top division for Los Blancos, never making an appearance for any other club before relocating abroad in his latter years. Raul, a Real Madrid player who won the UEFA Champions League three times and the Golden Boot twice, scored 229 goals during the campaign.

In 16 seasons at Real Madrid, Raul won six La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies. Along the way, he also set the record for most appearances in a Madrid shirt with 741 games (550 in La Liga – another club record).

Had he not been called to military service for a time during the 1941–42 season, he might have scored more goals.
