Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique is baffled by his team's stunning defeat at the hands of Newcastle United in the Champions League.
Enrique's squad received a harsh reality check in their second Group F encounter at St. James' Park on Wednesday evening.
Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff, and Fabian Schar all found the net, turning Newcastle's first home game in Europe's premier competition in two decades into an unforgettable evening, per Eurosport.
The 53-year-old, who believes his team 'didn't deserve' such a significant loss to Newcastle United in the Champions League, pointed out that the Premier League club excelled in the final third of the pitch, and PSG made some errors.
In his post-match comments, the Spanish tactician, who won the competition in 2015 with Barcelona, also extended his congratulations to Newcastle for their performance in the match.
"Congratulations to Newcastle, they played very good football. They were effective in the last part of the pitch, and we made some mistakes. It is hard to accept that. If you make mistakes, you pay for that," he told Canal+, as quoted by Daily Post.
The Spanish tactician pinpointed the areas in which Newcastle outperformed his team.
"Their press worked. We tried to put in front of their goal as many chances as possible, but we weren’t so effective in the last part of the pitch.
"But the scoreline is excessive. The result is so big for them. But I think we didn’t deserve that result."
