Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly eager to rekindle his friendship with David de Gea and is pushing for Al-Nassr to sign the former Manchester United goalkeeper, who is now a free agent.
The 32-year-old left Old Trafford after 12 years following the Red Devils' decision to retract their contract offer to the Spaniard, in preference of signing Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
According to FourFourTwo, Ronaldo remains persistent in attempting to convince De Gea to reunite with him at Al-Nassr, joining several other superstars to move to the Saudi Pro League after the Portuguese icon.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner believes the Spaniard is the final piece to complete the 'jigsaw' of creating a super-team in Saudi Arabia after the addition of Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte this summer.
De Gea had previously failed to seal a deal with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting the goalkeeper and his wife would prefer to still remain in Europe.
De Gea shows support for Man United star
Meanwhile, de Gea’s affiliation with Man United has not waxed cold after the goalkeeper sent his support to ex-teammate, Lisandro Martinez after his injury setback, Daily Mirror reports.
The Spanish keeper posted a heartfelt three-word message to the Argentine defender on social media, stating 'stay strong warrior' after it was confirmed he would require surgery for a foot injury.
Martinez is now expected to remain on the sidelines for the foreseeable future after suffering a recurrence of the foot injury that kept him out for the Red Devils late last season.
Why De Gea turned down Inter Milan
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that with Onana now a Man United player, Inter were keen on De Gea going the other direction before the move collapsed.

FootballPart of the reason the Spanish veteran keeper turned down the deal was because the Nerazzuri reportedly offered him a salary of €5 million (£4.3mil) net.
This is lower than the salary De Gea is expecting, which stands in the region of €10mil (£8.7mil) after taxes, which would amount to £167,000 per week.
