Newcastle captain, Jamaal Lascelles has resorted to hilarious measures in order to have a mental edge ahead of his team’s clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Saint James’ Park will host its first Champions League game in 20 years on Wednesday, October 4 in a game that promises to be a cracker in front of tens of thousands of fans.
Lascelles is likely to be integrated back into the squad by Eddie Howe, especially after Sven Botman suffered an injury setback.
Part of the England star’s job on Wednesday will be the unenviable task of subduing talisman Kylian Mbappe, and the defender admitted he was not looking forward to it.
As cited on TalkSport, Lascelles answered the question of whether he has taken time to study Mbappe as he admitted he has been bombarded with clips of the Frenchman on social media platform TikTok.
"Have I studied him? I already know how he plays because he has so many clips on TikTok! You see them all the time! Everytime I look," he said.
Lascelles is one of the more experienced players at Newcastle, a club he joined from Nottingham Forest in 2015.
He has made a total of 228 appearances for the club across all competitions, and it will be the first time he is experiencing Champions League football with the club, as per Transfermarkt.
Newcastle’s first game since their return to the elite competition was a 0-0 draw against AC Milan on September 20. They find themselves in a group considered the ‘Group of Death’, which also includes PSG and Borussia Dortmund.

City won the treble of the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup last season, but any dream of surpassing that feat with an unprecedented quadruple was swiftly brought to an end by Newcastle.
