Former Ghana midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng has disclosed that he only had one conversation with Lionel Messi during his time at Barcelona.
Boateng played alongside the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner during his loan spell in Spain with the Catalan giants.
The 37-year-old insists he only spoke to Messi once and it was the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner inquiring about the state of the Serie A.
According to Boateng, it was during the time Ronaldo had moved to the Italian league after leaving Barcelona's rivals Real Madrid.
“He [Messi] is the captain but doesn't speak. We spoke one time in the shower because he asked if it's difficult to score in Italy because Ronaldo was there at that time, and he showed the rivalry between them," he told FIVE UK.
"I told him that it was more difficult that Ronaldo was there, and he scored every game for 3 years. People forget too easily what he's done there,” he added.
Boateng left at the end of his loan spell to return to Italy after winning La Liga that year with the Blaugranas, as reported by transfermarkt.
Boateng insists he lied Messi was the best
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Former Ghanaian midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng has said he lied about Lionel Messi being the best player in the world so he could wear the Barcelona jersey.
The former AC Milan star played alongside the Argentine veteran during his loan spell at the Catalan giants in the 2018/19 season.
Boateng famously declared Messi as the best footballer he ever played alongside following his first training session with the reigning La Liga champions.
