FootballLamine Yamal Compared to Young Ronaldo, Tipped to Reach Mbappe’s Level
- Lamine Yamal is Barcelona's latest wonderkid
- The 16-year-old has been getting high praise in the last few months for his performances
- Former Celta Vigo manager, Carlos Carvalhal has backed the youngster to reach Kylian Mbappe's level
Lamine Yamal has been getting rave reviews this season for his performances at Barcelona. The 16-year-old has become a key player for the Catalan giants ever since he made his debut earlier this year.
Former Celta Vigo manager, Carlos Carvalhal has now compared the wonderkid to a young Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United and has also backed the Spanish international to reach Kylian Mbappe's level.
The youngster has been breaking records in the last few months. In April, he came on against Real Betis at the age of 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days, becoming the youngest player ever to play a league match for the La Liga giants this century.
He broke the record held by Vicente Martínez, who was 16 years and 280 days old in 1941.
Yamal joined Barcelona in 2014 when he was just 7 years old and has quickly become a key player under Xavi Hernandez.
Last month, he became the youngest player ever to score for Spain at 16 years and 57 days. On the same night, he became the youngest player to play for Spain, beating Gavi's record of 17 years and 62 days.
Yamal tipped to reach Mbappe's level
Former Celta Vigo and Swansea City manager, Carlos Carvalhal has said that Yamal reminds him of a young Cristiano Ronaldo under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
“When he starts he does very well and when he gets ten minutes, he does too. It reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo’s process with Ferguson at Manchester United. This is a very important process for his growth and Xavi is doing a phenomenal job,” he said, via Barca Universal.
Revealed! 15 times Kylian Mbappé shocked the football world
FootballHe added that the Spanish youngster can reach Mbappe's level.
“He has tremendous potential and, if he continues like this, he’s going to be at Mbappé’s level.”
Mbappe is arguably the best player in the world at the moment. He won a World Cup at 19 and is PSG's all-time top scorer. Moreover, the 24-year-old bagged the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot, beating Barcelona icon Lionel Messi.
Therefore, Yamal has a lot to live up to.
