Erik ten Hag gives strange response on Man United fans boos after subbing Hojlund
FootballVirgil van Dijk Mocks Manchester United Fan, Reminds Him of the Heavy 7–0 Defeat at Anfield
- Liverpool recorded one of their biggest results in history when they beat Manchester United 7-0 last season
- It was a shocking result given that Jurgen Klopp's side were adjudged to be the weaker side heading into the game
- Six months later, Virgil van Dijk savagely reminded a Manchester United fan of what the scoreline was
When your team wins 7-0, that result tends to stick with you forever. You might forget when the missus asks you to take the trash out. You might forget to turn the oven on while baking.
Heck, you might even forget to pick up your kid from school, but a 7-0 win? More so against your biggest rivals? That never gets out of your system.
It even gets better when you were actively involved in the win, like Virgil van Dijk was when Manchester United came calling at the dreaded Anfield Stadium last season.
Liverpool vs. Manchester United: The humiliation
A bullish Erik ten Hag, who was barely a season into the English top flight, brushed off the reports about the Liverpool home ground. After all, his side were in better shape going into the fixture, with Jurgen Klopp struggling to churn out consistent results.
But in what was arguably the result of the season, the Red Devils conceded not once, not twice, not thrice, but seven times against their Northwest rivals. So dominant was the performance that Mohamed Salah had the time to remind Lisandro 'the butcher' Martinez why he was referred to as the King in some quarters.
Turns out Anfield was Anfield and not just 'A Field' as ten Hag thought.
No Liverpool fan will ever forget this result, let alone the players. And at any point when a United fan is winning an argument against a Liverpool fan, all the latter needs to do is remind them of the 7-0 humiliation.

Footballvan Dijk mocks Man United fan
Appearing on the Pro Direct Soccer's 'Guess the Song', van Dijk revised the result as he played against United fan Harry Pinero.
As captured by GMS, Pinero was leading the game 7-6 when he quipped:
"Ok, 7-6, let's go."
Van Dijk, who was recently installed as the Reds captain, hit back savagely:
"You like seven, no? Sorry..."
Game over. Pinero could not believe that the Dutch star had gone there.
"That was one of the worst days of my life and you were responsible for that."
Here is the video of that hilarious exchange.
All Pinero can do now, and the rest of the Manchester United fans, is hope that their team can get revenge sometime soon. The first leg will be at Anfield (ten Hag take note) on December 16 before the return leg next year in April. But in between, you can't rule out possible matchups in cup competitions.

FootballBest-paid captains in the EPL
Sports Brief had earlier reported that Martin Odegaard has climbed up the ladder of the best-paid captains in the Premier League after he recently landed a new deal at Arsenal.
Odegaard signed the five-year deal nearly two years after he sealed a permanent move to Arsenal from Real Madrid after an initial loan spell with the North Londoners.
The Norway international is now pocketing an eyewatering £240,000 per week after he landed the new bumper contract.
