Journalist names Ancelotti's replacement

Spanish journalist, Matias Prats recently spoke to Radio Marca about Ancelotti.

The 72-year-old media practitioner reflected on Ancelotti's future.

"The favourite to replace [Carlo] Ancelotti is Xabi Alonso. I have no doubt that he will be their next coach," Prats said.
"Real Madrid have chosen Xabi Alonso to coach the team next year," he added.

Alonso is currently the coach of German side Bayer Leverkusen and has had a sensational start to his coaching career.

Currently joint top of the Bundesliga, the 41-year-old manager also led Die Werkself to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

Alonso spent five years at Real Madrid, making 236 appearances with six goals and 31 assists to his name, according to Whoscored.

Ancelotti on Madrid's derby defeat

In a previous report, Sports Brief stated that Carlo Ancelotti has accepted the entire blame for Real Madrid's performance and result after the Spanish giants saw their 100 percent record in La Liga this season ended by Atletico Madrid.

Critics have slammed the veteran Italian manager for the tactics he deployed against Atletico after he opted to bench Joselu and play five midfielders, which worked against Los Blancos in the tense game.
