FootballArsenal Superstar Conspicously Absent from Training 48 Hours to North London Derby
- Arsenal face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby this weekend
- The Gunners could be without one of the key players for the game
- The player in question was absent from Mikel Arteta’s squad on Wednesday in the Champions League
Arsenal could be without one of their most important players when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby.
The Gunners welcome their fierce rivals in a crunch game on Sunday, September 24, with the winner set to stay above the other team on the log.
Both teams go into the game with 13 points from a possible 15, and Mikel Arteta’s men are considered slight favourites to win it.
However, they will have to claim victory without the services of their talismanic Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli.
As cited on @FootballDaily on X, Arsenal’s latest training session on Friday, September 22 had Martinelli as a notable absentee.
The young Brazilian has been a crucial member of Mikel Arteta’s squad in recent seasons, and was the Premier League top scorer for the club last season.
There were hints that all was not well after he was forced off last weekend in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park.
On Wednesday, His injury also made him miss out on the Gunners’ first game in the Champions League in six years.
The Arsenal did not need him, however, as they breezed past PSV Eindhoven with a 4-0 victory.
The Gunners have one more training session at London Colney, and it is yet to be determined whether Martinelli will be available for it.
For now, it is looking highly likely Mikel Arteta will have to overcome Tottenham without his versatile left winger.
The manager, however, did not completely rule out his Brazilian talent from the derby in his latest press conference.
