  • Atletico Madrid have had a frustrating week and face an in-form Real Madrid on Sunday
  • They have won their last 10 home games in La Liga and will be looking to extend that streak
  • Atletico have beaten Real Madrid once since 2016

Atletico Madrid welcomes Real Madrid at the Metropolitano on Sunday for a mouth-watering Madrid derby. Carlo Ancelotti's side have won every match this season, while Diego Simeone's team will be looking to bounce back following a surprise 3-0 defeat to Valencia last weekend.

Atletico's miserable defeat to Valencia was followed by a heartbreaking equalizer from Lazio's goalkeeper Ivan Provedel at the death in the Champions League. 14-time European champions secured a narrow 1-0 win over Uni0on Berlin through Jude Bellingham.

Madrid sit top of La Liga with 15 points while their bitter rivals are 7th with seven points in four games. Their game against Sevilla was postponed due to bad weather.

Ancelotti's team have the momentum and form, while Atletico needs to pick themselves up quickly after two frustrating results.

Atletico's incredible home streak

The 2021 La Liga champions have won their last 10 home games in La Liga and will need to raise their standards against ain form Real Madrid side, per Atletico Universe.

The longest streak Atletico has was 14 when they were still playing at the Vicente Calderon.

The bad news is Atletico's win over Madrid since 2016 came in the 2021/22 campaign when they won 1-0, per SportsMole. So, the task ahead for the hosts is huge if they want to head into the week with bragging rights.

The hosts lost at home last season and drew 1-1 away from home.

Atleco to set price for Felix

Sports Brief earlier reported on Atletico setting their price for forward Joao Felix, who recently joined Barcelona on loan.

Atletico are likely to seek €80 million for the permanent purchase of the forward next summer, with the 23-year-old keen to remain with the reigning La Liga champions.
