Before reaching the final, Argentina eliminated Van Gaal's Netherlands in the quarter-final in dramatic circumstances, with Messi famously celebrating in front of the Dutch coach.
The 68-year-old in a recent interview with NOS stated the World Cup was premediated.
“I don’t really want to say much about it. When you see how Argentina gets the goals and how we get the goals, and how some Argentina players overstepped the mark and were not punished, then I think it all premeditated game,” he said, as quoted by worldsoccertalk.com.
However, Kahn believes otherwise, insisting the Argentina players worked hard to ensure Messi added the trophy to his illustrious cabinet.
"I know Van Gaal and he talks a lot sometimes. Maybe he had some problems with Messi. I watched Argentina games in the WC and for me it was amazing to see a team fighting and giving their all for Messi to be World Champion," he said in an interview during his visit to Saudi Arabia.
