In what could be described as a breach of security, hundreds of football fans in Iran have found their way into a hotel where Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr teammates are camped ahead of their Asian Champions League game.
The Portuguese legend arrived in Tehran with his teammates ahead of their crucial fixture against Persepolis on Tuesday, September 19.
A number of fans stormed the Espians Palace Hotel, filling the public spaces and chanting the name of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
It is Ronaldo’s first visit to the country with the Saudi outfit, and the return leg of the fixture is slated for Riyadh on November 27.
Following the restoration of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia brokered by China, the Asian Champions League games are now a reality, AP reports.
Both countries have been rivals for years, having severed ties in 2016.
The 2015 Asian Champions League edition was the last time Saudi and Iranian teams faced each other on home turf in the group stage or knockout rounds.
Al-Nassr call off training
Al-Nassr also reportedly called off Monday's training session as hundreds of enthusiastic football fans gathered to catch a glimpse of Ronaldo.
Substantial crowds congregated around the training facility to witness the Portuguese superstar in action.

But some clubs are lucky enough to have prolific goal-scoring duos, where two players combine to share the responsibility.
In the ever-evolving world of football, Ronaldo and Sadio Mane have undeniably solidified their status as one of the world's most formidable attacking duos.
