  • The 22-year-old has scored four goals in his first three games in the league

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface has set another record in the German Bundesliga after an impressive start to the season with Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

The Nigerian striker has been an instant hit since joining the German club from Belgian side Union Saint Gilloise in the summer. He has four goals and two assists in his first three games.

He is one of the three strikers in the history of the German league to have 6 goal contributions in their first three Bundesliga games.

The 22-year-old now has the most shots in his first four games in the history of the league, according to Soccernet.

The former Bodø/Glimt striker had 29 shots in four games, which is more than Juan Arango's 20.

The Nigerian striker was in action against Bayern Munich over the weekend but was unable to find the back of the net.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with Boniface causing a lot of problems for the Bavarians' defence line.

Xabi Alonso's side came from behind twice in the game to earn a deserved draw at the Allianz Arena.

Boniface will now switch focus to Bayer Leverkusen's game against Swedish side Hacken in the Europa League on Thursday.

Boniface equals Haaland’s record, beats Kane

Sports Brief earlier reported that Boniface's impressive performance in the Bundesliga has yielded results, with the Nigerian having equalled one of Erling Haaland's records and beaten Harry Kane to an award.

The Nigerian youngster beat the English striker to the award for the top player in August, after scoring four goals in three appearances in the Bundesliga and adding another goal in the DFB-Pokal, according to the Bundesliga's official X account.

Boniface also bagged the 'Rookie of the Month' award. Winning both awards saw the 22-year-old Super Eagles rookie equal Haaland's record as the second player to win both awards in a month.
