FootballJude Bellingham: Reason PSG Didn't Sign Real Madrid Midfielder Revealed
- Jude Bellingham recently completed his record transfer to Real Madrid
- The former Borussia Dortmund star was linked to Paris Saint Germain, amongst other clubs
- The reason for the French club opting out of the deal for the midfielder has been revealed
The signing of Jude Bellingham was a highly anticipated topic during the summer transfer window, with numerous clubs eyeing a swoop to acquire the Bundesliga player of the season.
However, in a surprisingly low-key manner, Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid managed to secure the services of the midfielder, ahead of English clubs Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in the process.
Bellingham, who has made an impressive start to his career at Madrid, also attracted interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain. Nevertheless, recent reports from the French outlet Le Parisien have shed light on PSG's decision not to pursue the English midfielder.
Why PSG refused to sign Bellingham revealed
The Ligue 1 champions must be regretting the missed opportunity to sign Bellingham, given his remarkable performances at Real Madrid. Nevertheless, they chose to place their trust in academy graduate Warren Zaire-Emery, who made 31 appearances during the previous season while Bellingham was still at Borussia Dortmund.
The club's hierarchy believed that the young midfielder had the potential to develop into a player with a similar profile to that of Bellingham. 17-year-old Zaire-Emery, who recently became the youngest player to represent the France U21 team, as reported by Goal, has become a key figure in coach Luis Enrique's squad, especially amidst the ongoing departure of several players from the French club.
The young midfielder has featured in all of PSG’s five games this season, and he provided an assist for Marco Asensio in their home win at RC Lens.
