Over the weekend, people flocked to the Argentine restaurant to taste one of the football icon’s foods of choice.

A post from @FCAlbiceleste on X (formerly Twitter) showed people lining up to enter the famed establishment.

Fans troll Messi after pizza post

Messi grabbed the headlines on Saturday when he shared a snap of a pizza he got from Banchero.

Fans were quick to troll the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner over his choice of pizza toppings. They mocked the Argentine star after he opted for a pizza with large tomato slices on top of it.

One account said it was unacceptable for Messi to come to the United States 'to eat a pizza that looks like this'.

Atlanta United also trolled the Inter Miami star following their victory on Saturday, posting a picture of a pizza with tomato slices shaped like an L as its toppings.

Inter Miami struggle without Messi

Inter Miami sorely missed Messi in the game against Atlanta United as they suffered their first loss since he joined the team last July, per ESPN.

The Herons' coach, Gerardo Martino said the veteran did not travel for the MLS game due to muscular fatigue.

The former Barcelona star was coming off a gruelling trip to South America. He played for Argentina in their World Cup qualifier against Ecuador and accompanied La Albiceleste to Bolivia.

Inter Miami struggled without Messi in their lineup, with Atlanta United recording an impressive 5-2 victory.

Messi to the Olympics?

Sports Brief recently reported on Javier Mascherano wanting Messi and Angel Di Maria to beef up Argentina’s squad for the Olympics next year.

The two veterans have lots of international experience, leading the South Americans to the 2021 Copa America and 2022 World Cup titles.

They were also part of the Argentina team that won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and Mascherano wants to see them both play in Paris.
